Howling For Wolves raises alarm about coyote killing contest in Anoka County, Minnesota
(St. Paul, Minn) – The Back to the SRO Bar & Grill in Oak Grove (in Anoka County) is sponsoring a coyote killing tournament on September 7 and 8, 2018.
Maureen Hackett, MD, founder and president of Howling For Wolves, said in response:
“Wildlife killing contests should not be part of a civil society. These contests do not reflect Minnesota’s ethical or traditional values of sportsmanship and respect for our lands and wildlife. These contests glorify violent behavior and encourage killing for thrills.
“Minnesota leaders should pay attention to this barbarism happening under their watch. We should be the next state to prohibit wildlife killing competitions and ban this blood sport. It is the right thing to do for our society and our wildlife.”
